WPR - Route 51 Never Forgotten Honor Flight on May 6th

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: 5/3/10
For more information, contact:  Glen Moberg ▪ 261-6307

This Thursday, May 6th Route 51 regional talk radio devotes a second program to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, a project that flew more than 100 World War II veterans free of charge to Washington DC this past week.  The vets had a chance to see the World War II memorial and Arlington Cemetery, and to receive some long overdue recognition for their service.  A crowd of 500 people welcomed them back home to Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee at the end of the one day excursion.  Host Glen Moberg discusses the experiences of this day to remember with three people who made the trip: Honor Flight organizer Jim Campbell; Pete Wasson, Assistant Managing Editor for the Wausau Daily Herald; and Joe Karlen, one of the men in the 8th Infantry Division who went ashore at Normandy on D-Day. Listeners will also hear the stories of other local World War II veterans who made the flight.

Route 51, Wisconsin Public Radio regional talk show, can be heard from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursdays on the Ideas Network stations WLBL 91.9 FM Wausau, WLBL 930 AM Auburndale/Stevens Point, WHBM 90.3 FM Park Falls, WHAA 89.1 FM Coloma, and for those with a high definition radio, on WHRM 90.9-3 HD.  We’ll be taking calls from our listeners live on the air at (715) 261-6371 and 1-800-780-9742.
